Thought for the Day: Baby Rooster Finds His Voice -What About YOU?

Author: Here is a story about a budding business owner whom I’ll call Julie.
Julie is gifted in so many ways. She is compassionate, a great writer, and a knowledgeable in matters of health. She has dealt with health challenges such as fibromyalgia, and has figured out how to keep her body from freezing up.
She has a blog. She has a mostly done free report. She has a few mostly done articles still in draft form. She has a product created with another expert partly done.
Partly – mostly – but not much truly DONE.
So many people need what she knows. Yet, they may never come to feel the relief that Julie has found, because she is so afraid that she runs around like a hamster on a wheel, accomplishing very little but being in a constant state of stress and overwhelm.
Yes, Julie is so afraid – and she doesn’t realize how many people could ease their suffering, if only she would find her voice and, metaphorically, sing out.
Finding Your Viice
Finding your voice takes practice, whether you are a human…or a baby rooster!
here is a video of young Liem as he learned to sing.
The interesting thing about learning to sing is that even a rooster goes through a process. They don’t just come out sounding awesome, loud and proud.
Being proud creatures, they even look for nature to help them become louder as they practice. I have noticed that with most of the roosters I have raised. They look for echoey places so their little baby call sounds bigger.
Now – Back to Julie.
How Julie Found Her Voice
No, Julie was never loud like the rooster, because that was not so much in her nature. However, she made magic happen in her life. And in so doing, she felt a strong sense of purpose in life and discovered how wonderful it feels to be of supreme service to her clients.
She is still a beginner, but she finds that people are signing up for her free report, buying her product, and looking to her for advice. Those mostly-done items are now done and bringing her business. She is forming alliances with other business owners who have so much to offer her clients.
Business is a journey, and Julie is growing into her new role as expert. Like baby Liem, she is still finding her voice, yet now, she is a much stronger action taker.
She finally got out of her own way by working with people who are “ahead of her” in business and by getting all negative people out of her life.
One of the biggest sources of negativity were a couple of friends who were also starting businesses, and she had to cut off talking with them to keep herself strong and focused. She began to associate only with those who have a powerfully positive mindset, and this helped her get more done with less “angst,” stress and overwhelm.
The teaching for YOU!
Just like the baby roosters, finding your voice takes practice. It doesn’t come by cowering in a closet and waiting to be inspired. You improve in any skill with practice.
What areas in your life do you feel timid?
If you find yourself avoiding a chance to shine, then you are hiding your true gifts and indeed hoarding them. If you’re too afraid to share, then you’re actually being supremely selfish, because those who are destined to benefit from your special gifts are being robbed of them because of your FEAR.
This is not to shame you, but to point out that…”it’s not always about you!”
Here are some strategies to help you find your voice and get out of your own way.
- Eliminate negative people – they don’t belong in your world and they WILL bring you down.
- Feel the fear – don’t fool yourself. If you’re afraid, then you’re afraid. It’s OK to feel afraid.
- take inspired action – Do what you need to do in order to practice finding your voice.
- Accept complements – if someone says you are a good cook, just say, “Thank you.”
- Share what you know – You’re better at many things than you think.
- Get out of yowr own way – You are your own worst critic.
- Upgrade your contacts - seek help from those AHEAD of you, not those behind or alongside.
- Be open – Think of everything as a door, an opportunity to do and be something new.
Your gifts, your passions and your passions are meant to be sung loud and proud like the rooster. Not out of boastfulness, but simply because nothing in nature is wasted. You would not have that particular ability if you were not meant to share it.
